How to design your slides.

To design great slides, it helps to have a clear baseline to work from.

01 – There are two types of pitches—the first is where you are in the room or online pitching to an audience. The second is where you send your deck as a cold or warm attachment.

The significant difference between these is with the first option; you are part of the moment when the pitch is received. You know who, when, and how the pitch is delivered. With the second, you have no idea where the audience is receiving the pitch.

02 – Think of your slide like real estate with a value on space. Most slides are jam-full of content. The best way to design slides is with a minimal approach and value white space.

03 – The design assets on a slide are like balloons. They are floating on the slide, and everything can be updated. They are locked down just before the pitch and can be fine-tuned to the audience for each pitch.

Design your slides like a billboard.
